Troubleshooting

If something does not look right, start here. Most issues come down to access, a tab that closed, or the size of a document.

Opening the app

I can’t find Baselines in Confluence

Open Apps in the left sidebar and look under Your apps for Baselines. If it isn’t there, confirm with an administrator that the app is installed (Confluence settings → Manage apps).

It says Baselines is not set up on this site yet

No group has been given access. A Confluence administrator gives groups View, Freeze (Create), Compare and Delete in Baseline Configuration. See Install & access.

It says I cannot view baselines on this site

None of your groups has View. Copy a request for your admin copies a short request to send to a Confluence administrator.

A button is locked and says Needs Freeze

Your groups do not have that permission. The tip names it; a Confluence administrator grants it in Baseline Configuration. Pressing the button checks again, so it works as soon as it is granted.

I want the old list back

Freezing

A row says to use a number, such as v2.4

The label is read back from the version’s name, so it must be a version number. Change the label in Next version; nothing was frozen.

A row says another document gets the same name

Two rows would make the same baseline name, or a baseline of that name exists already. Give one of them another label.

A freeze stopped when its tab closed

A freeze moves only while a tab shows Baselines. Documents offers Resume and Discard the rest; what was frozen stays. A freeze into a release can be carried on from the release’s page in any browser.

A page I expected isn’t in the version

Check the document’s Pages: line and its scope: This page only takes the root page alone. Pages you cannot read in Confluence are not shown to you. To change what a document takes from its next freeze on, use Edit pages in More.

Documents

Changed since says Not checked yet

A document of more than 2,000 stored pages is checked only when you press Check. Not checked with a Try again button means the check failed; the tip says why.

A version is in the wrong document

Open it and choose Move in More. See Correct a document.

My baseline is under Other freezes

It is on its own and has no version in its name. Make a document makes it a document of one version, v1.

PDF export

The export is taking a while

Large or image heavy versions take longer. Follow it in Jobs and keep Baselines open until it finishes.

The PDF was not saved, or it says the export expired

If the browser did not save it, Save PDF in Jobs saves it. The download expires an hour after the export starts; after that, export it again.

An image is missing from the PDF

Images hosted outside Atlassian may be left out; the page notes where. Attachments of the version are included. If a specific image is missing, confirm it displays on the live Confluence page first.

Republish

Republish created a new page instead of updating the old one

That is by design: Republish always writes a new page so nothing is overwritten. Move or tidy the new page once you have recovered what you need.

Republish says a page in the space already has this title

Confluence allows one page per title in a space. Change Title of the new page.

Schedules

A schedule says Not armed

Nobody runs it, so it does not run. Switch on arms it as you.

I cannot edit a schedule

It runs as somebody else, so only they can change when and what it takes. Once it is switched off, anyone who may manage schedules can change it.
