Short answers to the questions we hear most about Baselines for Confluence Cloud.

General

What exactly is a baseline?

A saved, immutable snapshot of selected Confluence pages and their attachments at a point in time. It records each page's content and version as they were when the snapshot ran.

Does creating a baseline change my pages?

No. Capturing, viewing, comparing and exporting baselines are all read-only for your live content. The only action that writes to Confluence is Import, and it creates a new page rather than editing the original.

Are attachments included?

Yes — attachments embedded on a captured page are snapshotted with it, so exports and imports keep their images and files.

Using baselines

What's the difference between Current and Historical?

Current captures pages as they are now. Historical captures them as they were at a specific date and time you pick. See Creating a baseline.

Can snapshots run automatically?

Yes. Set up scheduled baselines to run daily, weekly or monthly at a time you choose, with an optional name prefix and date format.

How do I see what changed between two snapshots?

Use Compare — it lists content unique to each baseline and highlights shared pages that changed version.

Export & restore

What does a PDF export include?

A cover page plus every captured page in order, with images inline and Jira issue macros rendered with live data. See Export to PDF.

How do I recover a deleted or damaged page?

Open a baseline that contains it and use Import to publish its content back into Confluence as a new page.
