Editions — Standard vs Advanced
Quartz ships in two editions — Standard and Advanced — sharing the same SLA engine; Advanced adds the predictive and AI layer on top.
The two editions
Every Quartz install is either Standard or Advanced. The difference is not the core SLA engine — both editions track SLAs, run the same business-hours calendars, and recompute status on demand. Advanced adds a predictive and AI layer on top of that shared foundation.
Put simply: Standard gives you the full SLA tracking, monitoring and Jira-Automation toolkit. Advanced adds Breach Forecasting and every AI feature.
In production, your Marketplace licence is the only authority — a production install with no Advanced licence runs as Standard, and nothing in the app can unlock the Advanced features without the paid edition.
What Standard includes
Standard is a complete SLA solution on its own. Nothing about the monitoring, reporting or Automation bridge is held back. It covers:
| Area | What you get |
|---|---|
| SLA definitions | Duration, date-field and measure-only goals; configurable clock (start / stop / pause / reset), cross-SLA states, calc methods, priority & JQL target tiers, thresholds |
| Calendars | Working-hours calendars with weekly schedules, holidays and closed exceptions; two seeded calendars plus company-wide holidays |
| Issue panel | Per-goal tiles, "Why this status?" explainer, cycle breakdown, "No SLA applies — why?" diagnostic, related-issues rollup, extend & mute |
| Radar | Live status counts and the "What breaches next" board, pause-aware, scoped to each user's visible issues |
| Reports | Per-issue grid with column picker and saved views, KPI summary and charts, in-browser CSV export |
| SLA Fields & Automation | Field write-back, four read-only computed Jira custom fields, the scheduled write-back sweep — drives Jira Automation natively |
| Compliance coverage | ITIL / ISO 20000 / SOC 2 instrumentation mapping |
| Audit log | Immutable, egress-free trail of every change |
| Permissions & Settings | Group × capability matrix, timer display defaults, excluded actors |
If you never need prediction or AI, Standard is the whole product. CSV export, the Automation bridge and the computed JQL fields all work without Advanced.
What Advanced adds
Advanced keeps everything in Standard and adds Breach Forecasting and the AI features.
| Feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Breach Forecasting | Flags open issues that are likely to breach, before the live countdown shows it, so you can act early. |
| Governance / exception review | Reviews how mute and extend exceptions have been used, and lists what is muted right now. |
| AI report summary | A short, plain-language executive summary of your report. |
| "Why at risk" explanation | A plain-language reason each at-risk issue is flagged, on the Radar. |
| "Why this status" narrative | A plain-words explanation of an issue's SLA status, on the issue panel. |
| "Ask Quartz" report query | Sets the report filters from a plain-language request. |
| SLA setup assistant | Drafts an SLA from a plain-language policy for you to review and save. |
| Quartz SLA Rovo agent | Answers SLA status and what's about to breach in Rovo Chat. |
Every AI feature runs on Atlassian-hosted Claude inside the Forge runtime, so prompts never leave Atlassian and nothing is sent to a third party — the same no-egress posture as the rest of Quartz.

How Advanced features appear on Standard
On a Standard install, the Advanced sections and controls remain visible but locked, shown with an "AI: Advanced" or "Advanced" lozenge rather than hidden. You can see what Advanced offers before you upgrade. Each user's per-issue SLA panel and the core monitoring screens keep working as normal.
Switching edition
Your edition follows your Marketplace licence.
Upgrade on the Marketplace
Edition and pricing are set on the Quartz Marketplace listing. Move to the Advanced edition there; the Advanced features unlock automatically once the licence applies. There is no separate licence key to enter in the app.
Verify in Settings
Open Settings and check the "AI (Advanced edition)" card. It reflects your current entitlement and where it came from. In production this is driven solely by the Marketplace licence.
Non-production override (testing only)
Outside production — in development or staging — an admin can use a dev override to flip AI on (to build or demo) or off (to verify the Standard lock). The override appears in the Settings card only when it is in effect, and it has no power in production.
In production, no override unlocks AI. A production install with no Advanced licence is Standard, full stop. Pricing lives on the Marketplace listing — Quartz does not display prices in-app.
